Who We Are & What We do
My name is Lizzy and I am the owner of Gothic Ties, an Alternative Wedding florist specializing in unique alternative floral design. We service all of Eastern Pennsylvania (Jim Thorpe, Philadelphia, Poconos, Harrisburg, Lehigh Valley), New Jersey and we are willing to travel so please do not hesitate to send an inquiry!
I’ve been conjuring wedding florals and décor since 2021—over five years of delightfully dark design and more than 350 weddings and events brought to life. I adore collaborating with your vision, and if you’d rather hand the reigns over, I’m a trusted guide through every decision. I’ll stretch your budget to its most bewitching potential so your inspiration blooms exactly as you imagined.
I created this business because it is the perfect combination of two of my greatest joys in life, love and horror. I love being there for the clients that are just like me and want to add a little bit of drama, romance and authenticity to their weddings. Clients that want to break away from the standard color palettes of most weddings and be authentically themselves.
As a woman- and LGBTQ+-owned studio, Gothic Ties celebrates couples of every gender, sexuality, race, ethnicity, and faith. This is a welcoming space to be seen, honored, and free to express your true selves. Let me craft alternative, art-inspired designs that tell your one-of-a-kind story.

Features
Some couples want timeless and classic. Other couples want moody, romantic, slightly haunted magic.
And choosing the right wedding vendors for your wedding is the first step in throwing an alternative wedding that represents the love that you and your partner share.
Can wedding florals have dramatic installations and moody aesthetics? Couples searching for alternative arrangements for their big day often settle for something that doesn’t fulfill their vision. However, one florist designing around the horror aesthetic believes that a wedding should feel like the couple who planned it. Dark, romantic, theatrical, soft, strange. And all of it is welcome at Gothic Ties. Lizzy Kates, a Scranton, Pennsylvania-based florist and owner of Gothic Ties, makes the dream of alternative wedding floristry a reality.
When it comes to purpose in life, I think that it is just doing what brings you joy and doing it often. My purpose in life is to be there for my friends, family and for my clients that enjoy the art that I make. I spent a long time trying to decide what I wanted to do for a career, I am creative and I love to work with my hands so becoming a wedding florist seemed like the perfect choice. The niche I have chosen in alternative wedding floral design is something that really makes my business feel like me.
